The poor and hungry are often overlooked and ostracized from society. Many are blamed for their problems without a second thought or ounce of empathy. At Drexell & Honeybee’s, we understand that we all fall on hard times. That’s why with your help we are doing our part to offer the lonely and hungry a seat at our table. 

Our unique donations only restaurant model allows us to welcome everyone to our table. With no cash registers or suggested menu prices we are eliminating barriers and making an often unnoticed luxury, like a nice meal at a restaurant, available to everyone. At D&H, our guest receive a “free” meal based on the donations of those in our community and around the nation, and an experience that restores to them a sense of dignity. We’re more than a soup kitchen, we are a community that feeds the need, and offers the hungry a sense of belonging and hope. 

•Our names are Lisa and Freddie McMillan and we are the founders of this Alabama Donations Only Restaurant that doesn’t charge their customers. 

•We started serving the hungry because we realized that many in our community, especially Senior Citizens, were going hungry and without food. Too often they were having to choose between food or medication. As someone who knows what it likes to be without food, I didn’t want to see anyone else suffer, so we started Carlisa Inc. 

•For a while we were a hot food delivery service, then we served free meals at a local college, and finally became Drexell & Honeybees. 

•One day while delivering hot meals to a Senior citizen, I realized that not many have the luxury of eating out and I wanted to change that. That’s when Drexell & Honeybees was birthed. Not only have we continued feeding the hungry, but we have transformed the way they are fed through our unique donations only restaurant model. 

When people come into our restaurant not only are they fed, but a sense of dignity and community is restored!
